Cancelling MTN Contract

I opened a contract with MTN on the 08th of November 2018. I received 2 sim cards with the phone, and I told them that my phone cant take 2 sim cards and that I want to end my contract and give them the phone back. I contacted them on the 9th of November and asked them to cancel the contract.

The lady that I talked to said that I should just get another phone and insert the other sim card into another phone. I agreed that I would do that . As I already phoned them on the 9th she said that the courier will pick up the phone (as I cancelled it) but that I should just tell them to not pick up the phone anymore as I will be using 2 phones. The couriers didn't phone me, so I assumed that someone told them not to pick the phone up.

I phoned them the next day again, to make sure the contract was cancelled and to tell them nobody phoned me. That's when they told me that the contract was cancelled on the 9th.

At the end of November a payment for the full amount went off from my bank account. I contacted them again and asked them why the contract wasn't cancelled, they said they would get back to me. They phoned me back and said that they listened to the tapes and it states that I said they shouldn't pick up the phone

I phoned them again and asked that the contract should be cancelled.

On the 8th when I contacted them at 11:00 the lady said that she will cancel the contract now and send me a email with the reference on. Until now I have not received anything or been contacted by them.

they said that if I want to terminate the contract now. I will have to pay R3342.69 & R 153.84. I will not pay the fees as I phoned them within the 10 days warranty.

I live in the Overstrand, and for me to listen to the recordings, I will have to drive 121km to the head offices, because they don't want to send me the recordings via email. Then it 121km back to my hometown.

Im going to stop the debit order, as I have no other options.

Can someone please help me to get this contract cancelled.
