CANCELLED MTN CONTRACT NOT CANCELLED AS REQUESTED
In January 2015 I cancelled an MTN contract [A***] after paying the outstanding balance on it. The contract period of 24 months had already passed. I had tried cancelling on line as MTN suggested but could not as their system could not accept my pin. I did the cancellation in their Alberton MTN shop. The assistant assured me that the contract had now been changed into a prepaid service and my contract cancellation had gone through.

At the end of February I received a bill for the same account claiming that I owed some money. I again went into the branch and had this checked. The assistant [a different one this time] told me that my simcard had been suspended at the time I said I had it cancelled. I told him that I did not ask for suspension but a cancellation. He could not tell me who had made the simcard suspension. We agreed that I would wait to see if the cancellation would be rectified at the end of March. Come end March i received another bill. I then wrote to Customer Sevices complaining about this issue.
I have today received an email from MTN with the message stating that I have to pay what is outstanding and that the account has been taken to their Legal department.
