Cancellation Saga with MTN

I retired in August 2025 and am in the process of reviewing all my accounts. With this in mind I cancelled two MTN line which I was not making use of. These number are as follows, - Made for value 65 – *** – R 72,17 exl vat - Made for business – *** – R 390,43 exl vat

On 19 February 2026 I visited the MTN Junction branch and spoke to a consultant who was kind enough to give me the cancellations number. I then phoned cancellations and spoke to someone by the name of Morris who asked me the reason for the cancellation and I told him that I do not make use of the lines. He then notified me that it will take 30 days and it was set to be cancelled on 19 March 2026 and received a CR number ***. I therefore budgeted for these amounts and paid at the end of March 2026 and paid for it at the end of March. When I received my April account I noticed that I have been charged for both these lines again. I then sent an email to MTN customer care and cancellations, no help. I was then directed to ICASA who could not help and directed me to the National Consumer Commission. I sent the NCC an email on 02 May 2026 and did not get an acknowledgement. Whilst I wait MTN bills be again for for these two lines that I cancelled. Unfortunately I have to pay the bill because they will just block y lines. I wonder if this is their modus operandi to make money from hard working South Africans. Shame on you!!!!
