Cancellation of MTN contract

I am trying to cancel a data contract.

I went to a physical store and the recommended I use the call center. I duly phoned the call center, and spent 15 minutes to eventually speak to a consultant in the retention department and was eventually cut off.

I then tried to use Facebook messenger for assistance, but they don't seem to have read my message (including the reference number) and suggested I again phone the call center.

None of the operators / consultants seem to be customer centric based on my interactions.

It seems, that once you have a MTN contract, it is extremely difficult to cancel it
