Cancellation of Contract - Legal Department

I was a loyal MTN customer for more than 7 years My latest sim card hasn't been used for more that 16 months and I still continue paying R121,50 every month. Last year June 2015 I received a new credit card. Because the sim card wasn't in use for so long I would have expected to hear from a cc-agent earlier to help me in cancelling my contract. Well only after SIX MONTHS of MTN not receiving any money via debit order, they send an sms on my Vodacom cellphone on Dec 2nd to inform me that I have to pay my arrears and to contact BD Incorporated Ref no: *** to make arrangements for the payment. I was informed by them that I have to cancel my contract. I went to MTN in Caledon on Dec 31. They informed me that the contract cannot be cancelled, due to the fact it is at MTN's LEGAL DEPARTMENT. <br> So where do I stand in this whole mess. I want to cancel the contract, but now I can't. I am very dissappointed in the way MTN handled this whole matter. I would have expected I agent to phone me within a few days if you didn't receive a payment. After 6 months without prior warning. Not fair. I would appreciate it if you would reply or contact me in Afrikaans. Thank you.
