cancelation and MTN predatory behaviour

I gave a months notice of cancelation for a contract about to expire. This morning I get an SMS saying the expired will continue at nearly triple the price. When I call the cancellations department they claim they have no record of me giving notice and they will cancel it no with 30 days notice. I did my duty, but because they didn't I must pay. Don't do business with this predatory company.
