Bought a phone and it's not working

I just bought an iPhone 8 at mtn store since yesterday it hasn't been working, I went back to the store I was told it will work after an hour that was 11h00 today and now it's 15h48 and still it's not working. I am being told that my sim card was it's not activated since yesterday they can't activate my sim card.
