Last year, for several months, MTN had been debiting a little more than my usual monthly subscription fee. When I eventually checked up with them I discovered that it was because of an additional 'content charge'. I called, around October, to ask what that was and they told me I had allegedly subscribed to some 3rd party service called MTN Android games, which I knew nothing about. The service was cancelled, on my request.

This January, another 'content charge' surfaced, this time it was Caramba Best Games, to which I had to call and have it cancelled. I queried it, challenged it, and all MTN could do is say the 3rd party has confirmed that I voluntarily subscribed, so the charge remains. All they did was to cancel it. This morning, I noticed a NEW content charge on my MTN invoice, it is said to be from Opera Telecomms. All I could do (I feel powerless against MTN) is request for the subscription to be cancelled. I fear reversing the debit order would just tarnish my credit record.

Since December 2016, the sim card has been in a wifi router, so how the hell would I be able to subsrcibe to anything with that number?! This is ********, really! Caramba Best Games people say they sent me an invite via sms and I confirmed my subscription, but how would I be able to do that on a screenless portable wifi router?!

How does this keep happening to me?! How is it so easy for 3rd party companies to be doing this to MTN customers?! How is my number always subscribing to things I have never heard of?! Is there some sort of collusion between MTN and these companies?! I agree with the customer that said it is as though MTN is trying to recover it's losses in Nigeria from us. Shame on you MTN!

That is absolute *******! This is the first time I hear of Mira Networks, and it was the first time I had heard of Opera Telecomms from your consultant. Different ways of subscribing?! Subscribe via internet... how?! Why would so many of us MTN customers be complaining about the same thing?!
You are patronizing me Itumeleng! You just sound like a ******* politician trying to spin things around. This is gross insult of my intelligence!
There used to be a time when 3rd party companies had to provide proof that the customer really did subscribe, by providing recorded call or a signed document. Now it is so easy for you to 'force' me to accept that I subscribed to something I have never even heard of, disregarding a strong fact that my sim card is in a router, making it impossible to even mistakenly click on an undesired subscription.
Please send me these records that show me being in contact with those companies. I would love to see them so that I can stop with my complaints.
A suggestion to MTN is that hiring public relations consultants to protect it's image is a futile exercise. Rather it should take our complains seriously and really do whatever it can to protect our interests.
