Black Friday contract ending - Pro Rata Nightmare - Charged almost R5000 extra!!
MTN, you're really being quite ridiculous with these sudden pro-rata charges (Which I was not informed about at all) on 5 of my lines which are now due for upgrade/cancellation.
I have been getting assistance from Tristan Webster in your Durban call center office and today got help from Tristan as well as Menzethule Chamane who are both understanding of my complaint and are trying to assist me as best they can. However I feel this needs to be brought to light as well. 2 years ago I upgraded contracts for your blackfriday deals and before the upgrade, I did not have any apparent pro-ratas from my initial black Friday deals taken in 2016. Now 2 years later when its coming to the end of my contract, you send me an invoice which says that I will have to pay you R4445.66 EXTRA because of "pro-rata amounts".
I signed a contract for 24 months. This month is my last month, so just because you decide to give me my provisions on the 7th of the month and my contracts end on or around the 21st of November, you want to charge me a pro rata for data I will have after my contract ends!! This is completely ridiculous and is not something I was informed about. Why am I being asked to pay this exorbitant amount which I can tell you now that I cannot afford??? A ticket was opened for me: *** which is still on going. Aside from this, Tristan assisted me by sending an email to someone, and the response received was that you are justifying why you feel these pro-rata amounts are correct. I have a total of 7 lines with MTN and treating your customer like this is definitely a good way to push me away and go to another network. Please fix this ASAP! Rather end my data on my contract end date than give me more data than you feel I should get and try and "force" me to pay your invoice.
And another thing, I can only give instruction to cancel my contract on the day of my contract ending??? What is that? Are you going to then tell me that its a months notice from the day I give the instruction and then want to bill me again for another month with some outrageous charge? Coming out of such a crazy time because of how lockdown has effected our country, is this the way you want to treat your clients?
Public of SA, if you took a contract on black Friday 2018, please check your invoice because MTN are trying to rob you too.
