BIlling nightmare+MTN useless service/no service!!!!
MTN has an amazing network and coverage but the admin staff and people in charge of handling customer queries are very questionable, to say the least. I previously had a billing nightmare that lasted a year and even took the ombudsman for it to get resolved and after months of peace. Now I am back again with another billing nightmare. In February I did an upgrade at an istore, traded-in my old iphone and this loaded a discount on my 24 months contract; everything went well till November 2020. On this month my bill came back higher by almost R400 and when I go onto the app to check my invoices, all of a sudden; the current invoice(November) and all previous ones now show this incorrect amount I have not paid before. Earlier this week I call in, and I am told the same; Why am I am complaining because the invoice shows I have been paying this amount(the incorrect one) all along; the agent then advised me to scan my contract and send it to them. I called again and was asked to email my contract, I did so and even included one of the old invoices(correct one) that were emailed to me (showing the correct amounts I have been paying). I was told the matter will be escalated and I must wait for a response.
This morning I get an sms saying that my case has been closed. When I call in, even the agent who was helping me could not make out the response left for me in that case, basically they just left a message saying I must check my invoices. Your own MTN system error completely erased and built new incorrect invoices for months now. I even included an old invoice as proof but clearly no one even bothered to look at it. I am not sure what the level of incompetence this is, but this is getting tired. And I am even willing to bet that this issue involves a ton of clients who had trade-in discounts loaded onto their bills. Is it going to take another 12 months to resolve? This is shockingly poor service and if I could rate less than 1 star I would. But hey, its one "mistake" you will gladly benefit from since its not everyone who will notice that their bills are suddenly a bit higher and follow it up, a win for MTN!!!!
