Billing Dispute

In the last month I must have called MTN helpline at least 8 times... spoke to 8 different call centre agents and one manager, each time explaining my issues from the start and still nothing... absolutly no help from MTN whatsoever, besides taking my money of couse. I am extremely frustrated with the situation.

The contract that I took out in July 2016 was on a MTN Choice 100 (100 minutes + 1 GB Data + 100 sms) however there was a further special on the contract and I was told I would receive a further 200 minutes + 2 GB data + 100 sms for the first 12 months of the contract. The sales person very clearly told me that after the first 12 months the extra minutes, data and smses would fall away and i will only receive 100 minutes + 1 GB Data + 100 sms for the next 12 months of the contract. this was all for R349pm. I was happy with all this information and took the contract.

Ive had no problem for the first 12 months of the contract. but now suddenly in the 13th month i was invoiced for R769 instead of R349, that is R420 more than what i agreed to pay. I called MTN a few times before my debit could go through but they apprently could not do anything to stop it and still took my extra money. Now because MTN debited my account for so much more, my other debit has bounced and now I was stuck with paying the failed transaction fee. That is now unacceptable.

I have since called MTN a few more times and each time explained my issue again and each time been told that the previous person i spoke to did not put the query through to for a refund and each consultant ensuring me that they will now put it through... but gues what?!? still nothing.

The last time i called the call centre agent asked me to send through a copy of my contact because apprently the Helpline does not communicate with the stores and do not have saved copies of our contracts. I have now sent my contract through twice to two different agents and still nothing... no one bothered to responsed to me.

I have just logged into my MTN profile online and see that i am still be to debited R 769 at the end of this month.

I am extreamly fraustrated and at my wits end...what do i do now?? how can i stop MTN from *****ing my money.

I can now offically say that MTN has the worst customer service ever and i cannot wait to chage networks, along with all my friends and family.

Dear Simone,

Thank you so much for the patience and understanding you’ve displayed during this most regrettable situation. For myself and on behalf of MTN, please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience caused.

Kindly note we have amended your package accordingly and can confirm that you will be billed correctly going forward. Please note that the 2GB bundle and 200 MTN to MTN minute bundle has been cancelled due to the 12 months discount period that has lapsed.

A credit request of R840.00 incl. VAT has been processed due to the inaccurate billing that took place.

We deeply value your relationship with MTN and are committed to providing you with the highest level of service simply because our customers deserve the very best.

Warm regards,

Willem Jnr Loots

MTN Complaints Management Team

Best regards,

SN
