Billed (******) for packet switched data calls

My MTN debit order is incredibly high. After struggling for 20 minutes on their horrible self service site I managed to figure out I was charged more than R800 additional for \Packet switched data calls". I do have an open contract BUT I still have data left of my inclusive and purchased bundle. This means I was charged outside of my normal inclusive data. I can only imagine this is for the new Whatsapp call functionality. This is normal data usage and I monitored my data all month to make sure these WA calls are not taking all my data. Charging me R800 extra for this without telling customers it is not included is *******. I also cannot phone MTN because they are all on strike. But I've had to deal with their call centre before and even before the strike the 808 number was a joke. I've phoned them and been on hold for 10-15 minutes before the call dropping and this has happened repeatedly.

I want this money refunded. I do not want a standard generalised response about how sorry you are and how much you value your customers because that is nonsense. I've had nothing but bad experiences with this company and you just don't care. You should be ashamed. """

Hello GerhardLaubscher,

Thank you for posting.

Please accept our apologies for the break down in service at one of our touch points and for any inconvenience caused.

Please check your auto updates , also the streaming and downloads will deplete your data once the provisioned amount is used.

The package you're on is an open line, meaning once you've reached your R200.00 you will be billed for the usage, alternatively you can load a recurring data bundle to monitor the amount you spend.

I hope the above is in order and would once again like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Regards
Jean
