Billed for unsolicited content services

I spend over R4k with MTN on two Sky packages and have done so for many years. I notice that I am getting billed around R100 per month for content services which I have never subscribed for. This is theft and completely *********.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN.

Our subscriber terms and conditions do not make specific reference to content charges. MTN enters into contractual relationship with WASP’s (Wireless Application Service Providers), and acts as an “enabler” to the WASP’s by making the network platform available and providing a payment gateway. In addition MTN requires that such WASP’s be members of WASPA in an effort to bring about a self-regulatory measure. MTN does not have relationships with the content providers, they however have direct relationships with the WASP who aggregates such content on their behalf.

For any dispute regarding Wasp content subscription/ deductions, please lodge a complaint directly with Waspa either via www.waspa.org.za or on ***.

Warm regards,

Mike Ramaboka

Hi Mike Thank you for your response. This has happened before with external WASP entities which I have complained about. I was advise by MTN that the content charges I was billed for the last few months was in fact an MTN product called MTN Gamer+ so I guess MTN have to take some responsibility here. I was advised this was unsubscribed (even though I never subscribed). I am looking forward to receiving a large refund from MTN and hope I dont have to waste more of my time chasing this matter up.

Lastly, I would like to know why MTN associate themselves with these ************ WASP entities and collects the funds from their customers. This might make MTN some money but surely its not worth damaging your brand by enforcing and collecting on their behalf for services that people dont want or agree to,
