Biggest mistake to port number to MTN

On Wednesday last week, I entered the MTN store after approval for a contract phone. I waited there for about an hour whilst the MTN consultant tried to port my Vodacom number to MTN. Another customer was there for even longer than me. The consutlant advised that she cannot release the phone without porting my number. Needless to say, I left the store without the phone. The next day, I received a call from Lerato, at MTN Fourways who apologised and that I can come and collect the phone. I asked if the port was completed as I am not going to waste my time again. She advised that she will test and call me back. She called back and advised that all is in order and I can come and collect.

The next day, colleagues informed me that each time they try to get hold of me, it states that the subscriber does not exist. I contacted Lerato who informed me that it will take 48 hours for the next phase of the port and it will be completed on Friday evening and that she will call me on Saturday morning to check. Needless to say, to date, I can still not receive calls from any other numbers besides MTN. I signed up for a R619 contract and cannot receive calls from numorous staff, friends and family - more importantly, it means that I am not reachable to several contacts in case of emergency and for business clients.

I whole heartedly regret changing to MTN. Although Vodacom is a bit more expensive, I never had these kind of issues.

Hi Alice. Thank you for replying. However, The number was ported but I can still not receive calls from outside networks from MTN. It advises people from other networks that the number does not exist. ?
