Beware of MTN Online Sales NO HOME LTE INTERNET
In May 2022 I took out an MTN contract online. (This is part of MTN Direct and the purchase was done by a third party called Mondo.co.za). This is a MTN Home Uncapped 30Mbps internet bundle on the number ***. I bought this because in the past I had excellent LTE coverage and service with MTN. After the device and sim was delivered to my doorstep the service was activated within 48 hours. When I started using the service the internet worked but the it went off every 5 to 20 minutes then I had to reset the device. After a while I contacted MTN on the number 083135. First they thought it was a router problem and then they referred me to after sales ***. After sales said that I should take the device to my nearest MTN Shop, which I did. My nearest MTN store is in Middelburg 50km from my home. When I arrived at MTN Middelburg the staff told me that they can not accept the device because it was sold by a third party online and that it is part of MTN Direct and they MTN Middelburg is a franchise (MTN Bethal told me the same). The lady at Middelburg Mall noticed on her system that there is no coverage for this type of internet bundle in Hendrina Mpumalanga where i am staying, even if the online coverage map says it does, and she thinks thats the reason why the internet is turning off after a while. Back at home I called after sales on the 9th of June 2022 and after 2 hours 24 minutes and 10 seconds the conclusion was that the online system of MTN direct shows that there is coverage at my adres, but on the MTN system itself it shows that there is no HOME LTE at my adres, therefore the service is being kicked off when I use it. Then I got a reference number: *** (And can I say I don't know why) and that a courier will pickup the device and sim, and then I will receive a RMA number and the contract will be canceled. As easy as that. But as time went on nobody contacted me. So I called customer service again and even with a reverence number I had to explain the whole store every single time. Then I started emailing customer service with reference numbers for a paper trail and after three weeks I havent made any progress. On the 12th of July I Google and got another number for MTN *** and with in minutes I was given the number for Mondo ***. I called Mondo and after the second call a lady called Amanda said that there is coverage at my adres... and then we've been cut off for the second time. So no reverence number for Mondo and no RMA number for MTN.
My problem with MTN online sales is that I am paying R749 per month for a service that I cant use, and nobody is willing to help me to sort this out.
