Beware MTN Fixed Lte

Bought a fixed lte package through one of their partners who phoned me at the end of October 2022. They told me i was only going to pay from December 2022. In November i receive a statement for the couple of weeks which were meant to be "free." Tried to call customer care, there are no options to speak to an operator. Emailed customer care, they gave me an invalid email address and told me to call 083 135 and press option four. Obviously when i call there is no option 4.

Email customer care again, they give me an email address. It works, however a week passed and no response. I eventually go into an MTN store and they call the Retentions department. The guy then tells me it will be R3562.56 to cancel the contract and that I am on a 36 month contract with Mtn. I dispute this as i was told by the partner company that it is a month to month contract and was told the cancellation fee is R200. They refused to cancel the contract for R200 and made me pay R3562.56 to cancel the contract. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that she is on lunch at 11am. Ended up paying the money just to get out the contract.

No need to say that i would not recommend any enter into any form of contract/business with MTN south Africa or any of their "partners" selling their products on their behalf.
