Bad Service from MTN
On 09th February 2019 I took out a contract for a Huawei P-Smart2019 at the MTN Shop, Westgate Mall. However, I started experiencing that the phone heats up. I also, later found that the sensor malfunctioned and the phone’s screen lifted. Early May 2019, I took the phone back to the shop for those reasons. The phone was sent away for repairs. On the 08thJune 2019 I was issued with a new phone. However, approximately two months later, I started experiencing the same problems with the new phone. Once again, during the first week of October 2019, I took the phone back to the shop and again the phone was sent away for repairs. On the 13th November 2019 I was issued a new phone, yet again. Bearing in mind that this was my third phone that was issued to me. On the 22nd January 2020, I took the third phone that I was issued on 13thNovember 2019, back to the store because of the exact problems that I initially complained about. I spoke to the Store Manager, Shameegah Opperman (Cell: ***), to advise her that I no longer want the phone. The fact that I have been experiencing the same issues with three different phones, and each time having to send it away for repairs is ridiculous. I have also contacted MTN’s Repair Centre personally, and they’ve advised me that they(The agents at the MTN Shop, Westgate Mall) should have swopped my phone for another phone to the same value on the second claim already. However, when I contacted Shameegah Opperman to advise her that I want the option of another phone to the same value, she declined to do so and advised me that if they went that avenue, it would be a long and lengthy process. Would it be too much work for her? It is now 8weeks since I sent in the phone. In the meanwhile I still have to pay my cellphone contract on time. Even though I am left without a cellphone for 6-8 weeks at a time. I am frustrated and angry as it seems that MTN has purchased too many of these phones, knowing that these are common problems with this particular model cellphone and now wants to make their problem the client’s problem. I have been a long standing client of MTN for many years and the utter disregard you have for customer service or satisfaction is disgusting. How did Shameegah actually land her job as a Manager? Her knowledge of procedures and customers ethics is lacking and needs to be addressed. MTN’s standards is being lowered by such non-chalant attitudes and unwillingness to satisfy the customer. Why is it always necessary to go the drastic route and name and shame companies and people before service is delievered?
