Bad Service
I write this review disgusted by the quality of service I keep getting from MTN. But this time I am flabbergasted in disbelieve that they would do this to a client thats been with them for over 5 years. Since the beggining of Covid i have note received any communication from them, verbally or any form of written communication. When Covid regulations where lifted i had to make personal visits to the stores to check on my balance due. They were instances whereby i would do EFT and send through the prove of payments and my network was still cut off. I them got assistance on that matter and was resolved. Past weekend I visited MTN store in Alberton City to go make a payment for the missed months and when i got there i was told that the system couldn't check my balance and I told the assistant that i would make payments at another store since they were struggling. On Monday my line was working fine till i woke the next mrning on Tuesday and to my surprise my line said i could only make emergeny calls, meaning my line was cut due to non payment, which i understood and took the liberty to find another store where i could get assistance.
I then went to MTN in New Market mall in Alberton where an assistant ( Male ) checked on the system and advised that i had to pay R1400 to reactivate my line, and I asked him if they accepted cash which he said no, so i made my way to the bank next door to them and i deposited the money into my account. I then went back to MTN and the male assistant had a client with him and i was redirected to another asstant ( female ) who told me that her system couldn't check my balance but could make the payment and reactivate my account. The lady that was assisting me asked the male one who assisted me before how much i had to pay, and the male assistant shouted that i had to pay R1500, so i was concerned cause when i left the amount was sittining on R1400 and when i can back it was on R1500. I then asked the female assistant to rather check how much i needed to pay to have my line activated and she referred to another assistant Mr Deon Du Plessis, who then told me that i had to pay R1800 and odd rands, I didn't argue and processed the payment with hopes of having my line opened. Deon advised that i wait for 10min before switching on my phone and the activation would have been done. I did so, but to my surprise my line still said i could on make emergency calls only. Deon then took his sim card and inserted it into my device to check and it worked well, he then took my sim card and inserted it into his device and gave him the same error. Deon then told me that i had to buy a new sim card cause my one was damaged, which i did and he ricad my sim and told me it would be ready in 4 to 24hrs. I then switched my phone off and went back home. After 4hrs i switched it back on and still had the same error for emergency calls only. i then switched my phone off again and went to bed. This morning i oke up and switched my phone on again and still got the error. So my other concern is that i was made to buy a sim card for R115 which still doesnt work.
I went back to MTN spoke to Deon and advised me that my status is pending. he then told my that my new sim card is deactivated only he knows why and how cause it couldn't have been me that deactivated it. I sitting on day 2 without a phone and has caused so much inconvenience to me and my work as i am dependant on my phone.
I'm so frustrated and full of anger for all that transpired with MTN, this is my 3rd official complaint with them and I hope my case will be taken seriously so such matters dont repeat themselve.
