Bad service and not making sure a returned phone is working perfectly

I handed in my CAT S 60 with MTN in Cresta on 25 March and I received it on 20 May. The problem is that the phone is working again, but the microphone NOT! I have to talk on speaker phone! My question - Certainly all this need to be tested before handing it back especially if taking that long!
