Bad Service

I app**** for a contract with MTN on 21 January 2016, the sim card/handset did not work and after several days of begging the personnel to fix the problem to no avail, I took the handset back and insisted on cancelling the contract within my 7 day cancellation period. They said they will do this. A few days later I phoned MTN Customer Care and found out that the contract has not been cancelled. I contacted Michelle who said that there is no such thing as a 7 day cancellation period and that the phone is fixed I must pick it up. After threatening the store with legal action, Michelle suddenly said that they are able to cancel the contract in 7 days. She promised to keep my updated every day until it is done. After receiving no feedback, I contacted her to hear if it was done. The cancellation was still not done and she promised to keep in contact. It is still not done. It is almost a month later, I have no activated MTN Sim card, I am losing business because of this and I am seriously considering legal action against the store. They are going against MTN Policies and blatantly ignored and **** about the 7 day cancellation period. I am getting no feedback from Michelle.

Hello JaxM,

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused and for the delay with the matter being resolved.

We have now escalated the complaint directly to the Regional Manager for the store. The store you visited is a non-owned store (Franchise / Cellnetwork) and they have their own head-office but sell our contracts etc.

They will need to provide us with proof of the 7 day cooling off period return and we will get our Retentions Department to cancel the contract accordingly.

We will touch base with you as soon as we get feedback.

Regards
Tim
