Bad service

MTN should change its name to Pass the Buck.

I bought a Huawei P20 lite around the middle of January on a 24 month contract from the branch at OR Tambo Int’l airport. However, it soon became evident that the phone overheated when being used for a while. The guys at the airport told me, as the phone was “out of the 7 day period”, I needed to take the phone to another branch to submit to Huawei for repairs and suggested I use Greenstone as the closest store to me. The phone was handed in at Greenstone in the morning of 6 March. The instrument was only received by Huawei on 12 March. I have yet to find out why it took so long with the courier, who the courier is and how to contact them.

The instrument seems to have been repaired by Huawei and released for dispatch on 18 March. Now I’m being given the run around by the Greenstone branch again. On the 25 March, the shop has no knowledge of where my phone is. Once again, I am not given courier details to follow up myself. I am absolutely livid. To begin with, I am furious that MTN sold me a broken phone and simply passed the buck onto me, its customer. Flimsy excuse about a 7 day period. Take ownership. Then, I would really like to know how MTN is so blasé about the phone being with the courier for so long. Does it not care that its customers are without the cellphone that they are paying for? The phone has been out of use for the best part of the month. What ratio of the monthly fees is MTN going to reimburse me?

I want my phone back ASAP please.
