Bad Service

After applying for an upgrade contract with MTN Direct on 20 July 2015 & waiting a few weeks with no delivery of an iPhone 5s 16gb I was finally contacted to say there was no stock available. I was then offered an iPhone 5S 64gb which I reluctantly agreed to as there was an additional R50/m charge. The next evening I received my invoice by email & was horrified to see that there were out of contract charges of more than R900. These costs were incurred during the period between my old contract being terminated & the new one being implemented.
I managed to contact Yanga Gesamba & asked him to hold the deal until my account was rectified.
Despite numerous emails & fruitless calls to to MTN customer care & MTN Direct this matter has still not been resolved. Calls to the customer care number are a joke as one holds on for lengthy periods (up to 1 hour) and you never get the matter resolved
Dealing with MTN direct is an extremely frustrating exercise and despite their claims that you are a \valued customer"one just appears to be a non entity of no concern at all.
I have probably wasted 10-12 hrs on fruitless calls & emails over the last month and have now reached the end of my tether"""

Hello tonysharples,

Thank you for your Post

We sincerely apologise for the delayed response and the inconvenience this may have caused.

Your upgrade was processed on the 02/07/2015 and your package was changed to Mtn My Choice 100min. There was no Usage limit set on the account and the line was open until the 22/07/2015 when the Usage limit was set to R0.00. The high bill for the invoice of the 20/07/2015 was due to high usage during the period when the limit had not been set.

Please note that a Credit request has been escalated for the Upgrade fee charged as the upgrade was reversed.

We would like to assure you that it is not our intention to displease you and wish to continue improving our service delivery to you.

Kind Regards
Itumeleng Rakoena
