BAD SERVICE
I had contracts with MTN till last year when I decided to settle my account with the store thinking it is a brilliant idea.
I had followed all the process as advised by the store sales rep in Phalaborwa. It was August 2023 when I first called MTN to check how much I need to pay to settle my account, and they gave me the settlement amount and I made the payment in the store so that it can reflect immediately in my MTN account that I settled the payment and indeed it reflected. I latter checked in my MTN app to see if the payment has been in effect and indeed the account showed settlement because the contracts was removed from my app. On the 14th of September, I received communication "sms" that I need to make my usual monthly payments on the contract, and I ignored the communication because the app was aligning to my settlement that I made for my MTN contracts. I even visited the shop to show them on my app and indeed it was fine BUT when I checked on their system, the system showed otherwise. I started making calls to MTN and every time I call, they send you pillar to post without any way forward.
I kept going to the store to understand how MTN can move my name or contracts to their collection department 14 days after I made PAYMENT WHICH WAS ALMOST 4 TIMES THE MONTHLY STATEMENT!!! mtn NEVER BOTHERED TO CONTACT ME EVEN AFTER I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES TO CONTACT THEM BUT THEY RAE NOT HELPING, THEIR OPTIONS DO NOT CATER FOR CONTRACT CANCELLATIONS AT ALL.
MTN handed my details to the credit Breau after their own employees did not do the due diligent and I am to suffer. After one has made a settlement payments and its reflecting soon your side, that should be enough for one to understand that the person is done with the contract.
They are happy to help us sign up for contracts in person but cancelling the contract is done on a call which, the worst nightmare I ever had is MTN. I will never ever be in contract with the network, and I am going to port my number to Telkom, at least they have better network coverage even when power is off in our area.
