Bad customer service
I so wish everyone who thinks off moving to mtn network can see this, so from last year December I've been using mtn, each time I recharge my phone, they take my airtime if I phone them they tell me that my phone is the one that has been using my airtime due to that there are things that automatically use your airtime if you run out off data, and so I bought this mobile phone,off which is now not an iPhone that automatically use your airtime, but from January they've been doing the same bull**** if I complain to them they give me this excuse that there's a number from outside SA that use my airtime **** that **** I have cell c and vodacom but they have never done this ****, MTN must fall guys?They really don't know how to treat their customers right!

Make sure to allow only selected apps to use data. It has always been one of the game changer tricks for me in fixing the fast data usage. So, give it a try.
Step #1. Tap on Settings → Cellular (Mobile in some cases).
Step #2. Toggle off the switch next to the app which you no longer want to use data.
Disable Location Services
One of the easiest tricks to prevent fast data consumption is to use Location Services only when it's needed.
Step #1. Launch Settings app → Privacy.
Step #2. Tap on Location Services.
Step #3. Toggle off the switch next to Location Services.
Turn Off Background App Refresh
Background App Refresh is known to consume not just a lot of power but also data. Hence, it's better to turn it off.
Step #1. Open Settings app → General.
Step #2. Tap on Background App Refresh.
Step #3. Toggle off the switch.
Disable Auto-Downloads and Updates Using Cellular Data
Disabling auto-downloads and updates can be good for the health of your cellular data as well.
Step #1. Open Settings app → iTunes & App Store.
Step #2. Turn off the switch next to Use Cellular Data.
Turn off Cellular Data for iCloud
When you are not connected to Wi-Fi, your iOS device uses the cellular network in order to transfer documents and data.
Step #1. Launch Settings app → iCloud.
Step #2. Tap on iCloud Drive.
Step #3. Scroll down and turn off the switch next to Use Cellular Data.
Disable Wi-Fi Assist
Whenever there is poor Wi-Fi, your iPhone automatically uses cellular data. Turning off Wi-Fi Assist can be a good idea.
Step #1. Open Settings app → Cellular.
Step #2. Scroll down and turn off the switch next to Wi-Fi Assist.
Prevent Mail App from Loading Remote Images
Prevent Mail app from loading stuff in the background.
Step #1. Open Settings app → “Mail.”
Step #2. Under Messages, toggle the switch next to “Load Remote Images.”
Stop Using Cellular Data for Apple Music
Make sure not to use cellular data for updating your library as well as loading the artwork.
Step #1. Open Settings app → Music.
Step #2. Tap on Cellular Data.
Step #3. Turn off the switch.
Send Low-Quality Images
If you communicate with your friends using a lot of images, it's better to send low-quality images. It will help you conserve a lot of data.
Use Apps Smartly
Now, it's time to use apps smartly and prevent them from consuming your data.

Step #1. Open WhatsApp → Settings tab → Data Usage.
Step #2. Toggle on the switch next to Low Data Usage.
Reign in Facebook
Step #1. Open Facebook → More → Settings → Account Settings.
Step #2. Tap on Videos and Photos → Video Settings → Auto-play.
Step #3. Now, select “On Wi-Fi Connections Only” or “Never Auto-plays Videos.”
Get the Perfect Control of Instagram
Step #1. Open Instagram → Tap on Profile Icon → Gear icon.
Step #2. Tap on Mobile Data Use.
Step #3. Toggle on the switch next to Use Less Data.
