Bad Customer Service

Hi Estelle

I want to lodge a complaint against MTN New Market.

My Mom and I upgraded our phones to the new Samsung S8+

I upgraded my phone on the 2nd of May 2017 and then my Dad went and Upgraded my Mom’s phone the following day on the 3rd of May 2017. When I was busy setting up the phone and making sure all my setting is the same as hers I noticed that the screen tone in my Mom`s phone was not right. That confused me as I made sure that the setting are the same as my phone was working fine.

I then took the phone back the following day 4th of May to inform them that the screen is faulty and that you can see the screen tone is different if you put the 2 phones next to each other. You will not see it if you only have 1 one phone. I showed them and immediately I was told they don’t see a thing and I must do a reset of the phone. I was then informed that the screen guard was the problem that the screen guard might be more darker than the other one and that is why the 2 screens look different. I was told if I still feel that the phone is faulty they will have to book it in for assessment.

I then asked what about the 7 day Out of Box replacement. Miranda just said she must send it in as MTN would not allow a screen fault for replacement. I then had to go to Samsung in Sandton to talk to a repair Technician Amith to call Miranda that the phone is faulty and they need to replace the phone he even told her that it is still with in the 7 day OUT of Box Warranty.

When we arrived there on Saturday after the confirmation from Samsung I was welcomed with a very bad customer service. After the phone being replaced that I did not sign for Miranda informed me that the 7 Day warranty does not start over again and carry’s on from the day the phone was bought. Miranda must think I am stupid to let her book the phone in for an assessment and then when it comes back weeks later the 7 day warranty has lapsed as MTN would not have found the fault. Then I can’t do anything because it more than 7 days later

I feel that Miranda handled the whole situation wrong and could have done better. MTN has the 7 day return policy and that is why it is there for any faults why refuse to swap out the phone if it has one. Why let me drive to Sandton to get confirmation / proof from Samsung that the phone is faulty.

I am very very disappointed in the service I got from MTN at New Market and as a result I will never support that store ever again as I am could feel she was not happy with doing the replacement for me.
