bad 3G signal strength

I live next to the MTN head office in Fairland, 14th Av. I changed from Vodacom (poor coverage in this area) to MTN to have better 3G coverag, because I work from home often and Telkom could not manage to get me an ADSL line.<br> Initially the MTN 3G signal was great, but over the last few months it has deteriorated. In the last few weeks it is really poor.

Hello Jeanette Coetzee,

Thank you for your post.

Due to the current load shedding this is affecting our network service in certain areas around the country. MTN South Africa works tirelessly to ensure that there is minimal affect and that its customers continue to receive a quality voice and data experience during these periods of load shedding.

In the event of a power failure MTN base station sites are powered by batteries for a period of time, but will fail if outages are for long periods. In the case of failures being longer than normal and the batteries no longer can power the equipment, MTN endeavours to get generators to important sites to restore service, this however cannot be achieved for 100% of the failed sites.

You can also call the network coverage department at ***. The number is not chargeable.

We would like to assure you that we are actively working to improve our service levels.

Regards
Lungi
