Avoid MTN - The worst service in the country
I purchased a Phone with a MTN contract and separate SIM, also with a contract. I very clearly specified with the consultant who phoned me and sold me this contracts that I needed to port these new numbers to my existing numbers. Everything was delivered to my house, but there were no instructions on how to activate the numbers. I went to the MTN branch in Hyde Park. They told me that they couldn't help me and that I had to go to the MTN branch in Rosebank. The activated one SIM card, but not the other one. At that branch they told me that they couldn't port my number and gave me a number to call. I called that number and after going through 4 menus with 14 options I was told that I had to phone a different number. This has now been going on for a week. I have phoned 5 or 6 different numbers and when I eventually get through to a human being (which is a complete fluke every time) I'm told to phone someone else, or that I purchased this package from another "company" - as far as I'm aware it's MTN. I am. ow ready to cancel everything and stay with my current SP or move to Vodacom. No-one at MTN seems to want to, or be able to help me, and it seems I can't port my numbers. This is the most terrible service experience I have ever had from a private company - it's the kind of thing you expect from government services and I regret having gone to MTN. The problem now is, I don't know how to get out and a payment of R528 will be going off at the end of the month.
