My work requires a network speed of 12 upload/ 12 download for the platform to work smoothly. I explained this to the sales assistant and I was guaranteed decent service after my address was checked with 7 days to cancel if it didn't meet my requirements so I got the MTN Home wifi 30/30 deal.
First 2 months were great, and then things went to utter chaos in January.
I have spent hours on the phone to coverage - *** and the service is infuriating to say the least. If I explain that my speed is below 10/10 coverage and the router keeps disconnecting, prompting a reset that takes 5 min to get back online. Coverage agent checks and says all towers in the area seems to be working - forward my call to technical. Technical checks the router and says everything is fine sends me back to coverage. Sometimes I get transferred to different departments - Business/ data ect. after being on the line for 15+ minutes just to be told "sorry we can't transfer you back, dial 135 option 2. Sometimes the number gets reset and it's worse than before.
So after getting through to the same people at coverage it's decided that a technician would come out to inspect. I explain that I can't do my work with this service "don't worry sir, I'll put your case on high priority and a technician should get back to you by Monday the 24th of Jan" NOTHING.
I try to speak to the person who opened the query - he is always busy and no reference number was ever sent through. "don't worry sir, I've sent him an email and he will get back to you shortly" Repeat this scenario 10x times.
I go into the store where I took out the contract. They "Reset" the router. "All your problems should be fixed". Go home - still low speed and keeps disconnecting. I go back - This time I'm told no I've reached my soft cap of 700 GB and I should come back on the 17th of Feb, all my problems will be fixed. After calling the data department I find out there is still 300GB left. Go back to the store - sales agent insists no I've used my allowed 700GB - Pressing him to call data department and that it is not the problem, things turn ugly. When he realizes it's not the problem I'm told "Why are you fighting with me? I told you I can't fix it, you need to talk to coverage" - this is after I have explained everything to him the day before, it's out of his hand and i'm wasting his time.
The joke of it all is that to cancel the contract I need a letter from coverage, and before coverage can issue the letter they need a report from a technician.
Nobody helps Nobody cares It's a competition of not my job, not my problem You get transferred to different departments mid sentence High priority means absolutely nothing Avoid at all cost
