Autopage / MTN billing delaying renew of contract - REQ ***

I had a data contract with Autopage which ran out end March 2016. During January 2016 I went to the Beacon Bay branch to change my banking details. I was assured it was done. End January the debit order went to the old bank, as also end February and end March. I have however paid the account via an EFT every month when the new debit order did not go through. Cancelled account personally for end March 2016.

Went to MTN to upgrade nearly two weeks ago. Was told that there is still an amount outstanding on the Autopage account, which MTN took over. Gave proof of ALL my payments - which actually shows that I paid MORE than was the final account!

Been told by MTN agent that the account is with the Call Centre to sort out. He phoned me THREE times now expecting me to pay the R312 that MTN says is still outstanding on the Autopage account. He believes that I am correct, but "wants to give me the upgrade so long" with the assumption that I will be refunded whenever the Call centre has finalized their audit of my closed account!

What more can I do? I have submitted ALL of the proof, what more do they need? What a way to treat a client of more than 20 years!

Please note that when checked under account status, payment has been updated on the account and the number is deactivated. Kindly be advised that the Auto page account is closed and the request resolved.

Thank you for your reply. I do not believe that the request has been FULLY resolved as I was assured by the agent at The Hemmingways Mall that the overpayment I made will be refunded too. What is the staus about that?

On 23 December I app**** for a Tablet @R39 per month from MTN at Hemmingways Mall, East London. On 28 December, after no info forthcoming, I visited the branch again. Was told some document was not received at MTN HQ. Was told it will be expedited and that I would have an answer within 24 hours.

On 30 December I returned again. After standing in the line for a very long period I was told that my application was declined as there was a recent Legal issue regarding my account. The answer from MTN HQ came on 23 December – yet I was told on 28 December that documents were still outstanding and that they will reply within 24 hours with an answer! (This related to my account at Autopage, now taken over by MTN. According to their statements I still owed them R300 odd. After submitting PROOF of payments and coming to the realization (with the salesperson at Hemmingways) that MTN still OWED ME R300 odd I resorted to HelloPeter. I received a GENERIC reply saying that the problem was sorted and MTN posted a CREDIT NOTE to my account. According to them – see link – The problem was sorted!) – No reference to the R300 odd they still owe me though!

Imagine my emotions when told – in front of other customers – that my application was DECLINED because I had a LEGAL record with MTN’s accounts Department! AND IT WAS NOT ME AT FAULT!

I know we should not wish our lives away – but I wish the next 23 months speed by quickly as I, after 22 years then, will look to move to a Company with COMPITANT people, people who still value their current customers. Do they not know that it is CHEAPER to keep current clients that to seek out new ones?

Sorry MTN, your service has deteriorated to a level way below your international image and footprint suggest. The last few years saw a steady decline, but the last few weeks just blew my mind away! Pathetic and unprofessional service is still a compliment too large to pass to you!
