***** at MTN on my name and they DO NOT CARE??????????

Dear MTN Executive Customer Care / ***** Department,

I am writing this email in absolute frustration and disappointment. I have comp**** with every single request made by MTN — including submitting a sworn affidavit and a certified copy of my ID — yet I am still waiting for any meaningful resolution to the *****ulent activity that occurred under my name.

MTN’s handling of this matter has been beyond negligent. I have been patient and cooperative, but your ongoing failure to act has caused serious financial harm, reputational damage, and immense emotional distress. The situation has now escalated beyond acceptable limits, and I will not tolerate further delay or disregard.

Let me restate the facts clearly:

A *****ulent contract (S25 + Rayzon) was taken out in my name — without my consent or authorisation.

I have submitted all documentation requested by MTN:

A sworn affidavit confirming the *****.

A certified copy of my ID.

Proof of the August payment, which remains unallocated.

My two legitimate numbers were suspended as a result of MTN’s own internal failure, leaving me without access to services for which I am still being billed.

The A34 contract is reaching its natural end in November and must be cancelled immediately upon expiry — I do not authorise any renewal or continuation, including data packages.

The *****ulent contract and billing must be removed entirely from my account and my Credit Bureau record corrected without any further delay.

I demand to know how MTN intends to reimburse or credit me for the A35 and A54 data and minutes that I have paid for but have not received as a direct result of this suspension and MTN’s failure to protect my information.

Your company’s inaction constitutes a violation of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), which guarantees my right to fair, honest, and just treatment as a consumer, and to services that are free from negligence and unconscionable conduct. Furthermore, MTN’s failure to protect my personal data and prevent identity ***** is a serious breach of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Under Section 19 of POPIA, MTN is legally required to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of my personal information and to prevent any loss, damage, or unauthorised access. The fact that a *****ulent contract was processed in-store under my name demonstrates a clear failure of your internal data protection and verification controls, for which MTN bears full legal responsibility.

I am therefore demanding, in writing, within 48 hours:

Written confirmation that the *****ulent line and its billing have been permanently removed.

Proof that MTN has contacted the Credit Bureau to correct the false information and restore my credit record.

Confirmation that the A34 contract will be cancelled at the end of November with no renewal or continuation.

A written explanation of how MTN will compensate me for the A35 and A54 services paid for but not received.

Allocation of my August payment to the correct accounts.

Should MTN continue to delay or ignore this matter, I will have no choice but to escalate it formally to:

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA),

The National Consumer Commission, and

The Information Regulator of South Africa (POPIA enforcement body).

MTN’s repeated disregard for my rights as a consumer and data subject is unacceptable and ********. I expect this matter to be treated with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.

I have done my part — MTN has failed to do theirs. I will not stop pursuing this until my account is corrected, the *****ulent activity is erased, my name is cleared at the Credit Bureau, and I am reimbursed for the losses caused by your negligence.

I await your written response and full resolution within 48 hours.

Sincerely, Amanda Lee Green ***

Reviewer Update
Dear MTN Executive Customer Care / ***** Department,I have now still not received any substantive response from you despite providing everything you requested — including a sworn affidavit, a certified copy of my ID, and full details of the *****ulent activation and billing on my account. Your continuing silence and failure to act is utterly unacceptable. To restate the facts (once more):
  • A *****ulent contract (S25 + Rayzon) was taken out without my knowledge or consent under my name.
  • Two of my legitimate numbers have been suspended as a result of this ***** and your failure to protect my account.
  • I have made the payment in August, which remains unallocated by MTN.
  • I have been paying for the A35 and A54 data and minutes that I did not receive because of your internal failures.
  • The A34 contract is due to end at the end of November and must be cancelled completely with no further data packages or services added.
  • My credit record has been damaged due to your delay, negligence and failure to act.
  • I have provided all the documentation you requested. There is no further delay justified.
I demand that you respond in writing within 48 hours with proof that:
  1. The *****ulent contract has been permanently removed and all associated billing from the date of ***** has been voided.
  2. Your company has contacted the Credit Bureau and corrected the negative listing you caused, and sent me written confirmation of that correction.
  3. My August payment has been properly allocated to my two legitimate lines.
  4. You will reimburse or credit me for the A35 and A54 data/minutes that I paid for but did not receive.
  5. The A34 contract is confirmed cancelled at end of November, with no renewal or additional services added or hidden.
Because you have failed to meet your obligations, I am now copying in the relevant ombudsman/consumer protection body, and will be lodging a formal complaint unless this matter is resolved promptly and fully.I expect this matter to be handled as the emergency it is. Your failure to act not only breaches my rights as a consumer, but exposes MTN to further liability.I await your urgent written reply.
