As long you get money the consumer does not matter!!!!!!
MTN debited my account with R903.21 on 31st May. I got standard bank to reverse the debit order as I have NO contract with them. This month I’m billed again with an amount of R1682.76. Upon phoning MTN this morning I find out that “SOMEBODY” opened a contract online on my name and used my banking details. Slyvia Lubusi assisted me and was very helpful and calm even though I was screaming and shouting. Upon receiving the contract, I find that the contract was not physically signed but printed with my name. SO I have a few questions for MTN. 1) How do you allow an online contract to take place without verification? Where is the required document for the new application? Where is my bank statement, copy of my ID, proof of income and proof of residence? How did this contract get approved without these documents? The address on the contract does not belong to me. How did you get a proof of residence with my name and that address? When delivering the phone who accepted the phone and where is the copy of my ID that supposed to be produced when delivering the phone? There are too many loopholes here but just proves that MTN does not care about the consumer as long as they get money. Further to this I now need to get an affidavit to prove I didn’t open the contract or else MTN cannot help me. SO now it becomes my problem when MTN didn’t do the proper checks and allowed a ********** contract. I want this resolved ASAP.
