I got a new upgraded contract cell phone, Honor X7, at the beginning of February. On the 25 of February I had an experience where my phone just went completely dead, N1 City branch, where I obtained the phone were unable to assist and advised that I go to Canal Walk for a Technician to assess the situation. It was a Saturday and technicians don't work on Saturdays. Anyway I went home and just prayed and the phone eventually went back on. The following Monday I decided to go and see the Technician at Canal Walk, Fabian, he was not impressed and said that he is not able to open the phone to do the necessary checks and that the phone would have be sent away for repair. This process takes two weeks and a substitute phone is not given to use while the phone goes for assessment. So I couldn't do that without having a substitute phone. My backups/upgrades can only be done by using Wi-Fi which is setup like that on the phone as I was told it would deplete my Dara. I do not have wifi and can not afford it so I have to constantly go into the MTN store in order to do backups. This can take a couple of hours at a time. On the 6th of March I had purchase data for the 3rd time after receiving my monthly quota which is divided up for use on various apps, most of which I do not use. Also, my phone had a message stating that it was on roaming and I was unable to access internet with my data, trying to get to find out the cause was a tedious affair but the lady on their helpline who assisted the MTN employee had a lot of patience. I feel that I should have been given options according to my needs at the time of the upgrade. Yesterday, 7 February 2023, the very same person who handled my upgrade, Jamie-Keane Stevens assisted me for the same problem as the previous day, but being once I am in the store it picks up their Wi-Fi and he told me that he cannot help me if he can't see the problem. He went on to say "THERE ISN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE PHONE, THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE USER". I was so shocked and disgusted that I had a loss for words. What sort of customer service is that. This morning I was suddenly able to use the internet, hence my being able to post this complaint. I cannot explain how disappointed I am and that it is a three year contract so now I have to sit with the problem. I hope this helps the next person when they choose a cell phone service provider.
