Appalling service from MTN all round

Beginning of March 2016 I went to a MTN branch in Southgate Mall to cancel my contract and migrate to prepaid, the consultant advised me to return on 1st April as my contract lapses 31 March. On 1st April i went to the branch again but to my dismay another consultant said they do not do contract cancellations, they only do upgrades!!

I then decided to phone customer service and the consultant told me my contract lapses on 10 April and I should therefore phone back on 11th April. On the 11th I phoned them and the consultant said she sent a request to cancel my contract and migrate to prepaid and the process would take 4-5 working days. She gave me a reference number: ***, if i wanted to query.

Now, yesterday 14th April, they credited my phone with airtime and data. When I phoned customer service several times to request that they reverse the airtime I was told their system was offline. This morning I tried again to phone but I cannot get through to speak to a consultant.

I just want to say, if they dare debit my account at the end of the month they will refund me my money because i don't want their contract anymore, I just want to migrate to prepaid.

Hello Zukiswa, In light of every step I followed, as set out by yourselves, to cancel my contract I was still inconvenienced by Mtn as my account was debited at the end of last month. I refuse to be inconvenienced by mtn's incompetence to carry out it's duties. Or is it because you think I don't know my consumer rights that you think you can do as you please. Well, I have reversed that debit order. Should Mtn continue to want to make me suffer this way then I will have no choice but to refer the matter to consumer protection services. I have also sent your client services team an email notifying them that I reversed the debit order, but I know that it won't be read anyway. It will just 'park' in the cue.
