Another ***** victim. Does MTN give a F***??? Ans: Hell NO

On 31 March 2016, MTN deducted a shocking amount of R10 039 from my back account. This amount escalated on a monthly basis since March 2016 until now (30 November 2016). I have been phoning their Contact Centre to find out what is going on in my profile/account. I was informed that there are a couple of lines (new cellphones purchased) added onto my profile. I indicted that I wasn’t aware of this ********** action, thereafter I was instructed to provide an affidavit and certified ID copy. I supp**** these documents in April 2016. After MTN carried out the investigation, I was informed that the ********** activity took place in one of their branches in Johannesburg (surprisingly I lived in Cape Town at that time).

1) MTN, for the whole year, didn’t bother to reverse or write off the debt that was incurred due to *****.

2) MTN didn’t do anything to maintain the account and provide me with the correct bill.

3) MTN didn’t communicate at all and didn’t even supply me with monthly statements or phone calls.

4) I followed up on this issue throughout the year and didn’t receive any response.

Now, GUESS WHAT????

MTN handed over my account to VVM debt collectors. Now I owe over R35 000….and most of all, my credit record will contain stains since MTN argues I am a “Slow Payer” and have contacted TransUnion Credit Bureau to put a default against my name…..WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY SMOKING?

Peter, could you please assist. MTN must wake up and conduct introspection…Why is it so easily for people (incl. MTN staff) to commit ***** at/against MTN…..Something is not right with their processes, risk mitigation plan and measure.

I also feel like MTN owes me money for all the effort, airtime used, depression I am going through, inconvenience and ruined reputation due to their inefficiencies.

People must not take a risk and purchase any of MTN’s products….Not now, not ever….

Thank you for your post

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

The ********** additional lines that were added to your account were deactivated, we have requested the ***** department to assist with passing the journal accordingly.

We understand that the entire experience must be very frustrating and hope that we can restore your faith in us.

Kind Regards
Siphumezo
