***** and POPIA misconduct

Today I went to a MTN store in Gateway Mall, Durban. A lady buy the name of Phumzile Radebe who works at MTN was assisting me with a contract application. After taking my personal information she advised me that I don't qualify for a contract phone but I can take a contract simcard because my credit score is low. I did not accept the simcard and I advised her I'll return after 3 months to reapply.

A few hours after leaving the store I received 2 OTP SMSes from MTN, shortly after I received another SMS stating that a profile has been created with my account number. I called MTN to report possible ***** and the consultant on line was very helpful and she advised a contract is openned with my details but it's on a pending status.

I'm very disappointed in MTN, they hire ********s. The store assistance did not comply with POPIA as she used my personal information without my concern and I'm going to escalate this further. She chose the wrong person to ****.
