Airtime forfeited

I upgraded my phone in October 2016. I changed my package because MTN had changed their packages and because I didn't ever use my phone. I had quite a lot of airtime on my phone so I knew if I ran out of minutes, I was okay.

Yesterday however, my phone call was cut off because I no longer have any minutes or airtme. I called in to MTN (808) and was told my airtime had been forfeited. I have a problem with this because I was never told my minutes would be forfeited. I mean MTN can send me numerous sms's to tell me my data has expired or forfeited but you can't tell me that my airtime will be forfeited. If I knew my airtime would be forfeited, I would've done something with it but alas, I get cut off mid call. I've had to call MTN again to now load extra minutes but apparently will lose those too if I don't use them. Ama not impressed as I had R2028 in airtime which has now gone back to MTN. I feel very *****ed as I was going to move to Cell C instead of staying with MTN but decided to stay with MTN as I didn't want to lose my number. This just goes to show that I should've listened to my instincts and moved to Cell C as the communication from MTN is hopeless unless you want me to pay for something. Rest assured, when this contract is finished, I will be moving. Alas, that's only in 2 years and I'll have to live with this shocking theft from MTN until then.
