To say I'm dissatisfied is an understatement , for the past two months I have had a really bad experience with Mtn . I first noticed when I loaded airtime I took about 5 minutes doing something else when I checked my balance I had a zero balance I just thought maybe it didn't go through as I had bought it using a a bank app . I bought another one and carried on with my business .
Then again the same happened but this time I had Bought a voucher and immediately when I check I has a zero balance , I desperately wanted to use the airtime I call the 173 customer number and dare I say I holded for the (champion ) for straight 17 minute s until I hang up because I had an emergency .
I ended up loading another voucher and sadly I lost my R30 because of Mtn .
This has carried on for weeks now where I load airtime even with my data off and every app off I will continue to loose data then daily I receive an SMS saying yesterday I have used so much data , .
Anyway I sent an email complaining about this issue but I received an reply saying I should send my number so they fix the problem , but to this day I have never received a call or my refund from Mtn.
An hour ago I loaded a R15 airtime a second later I tried to buy data I received a notice saying that I have insufficient funds , I called the customer service a spoke to a ( champion ) by the name of Nokwanda when I asked her what happened to my airtime that I just loaded she told me I might add confidently that ( sorry , it will only reflect within 30 minutes to an hour , so check it again then ) I asked her since when and I asked to be put through to her manager of which Dawn the manager apologised for the inconvenience but said that I must hold while she checks something , then she comes back and says I'm sorry but internet uses up all your airtime , I asked her how come cause my internet was off , she said ( sorry we can't refund you , maybe you need to check with the internet .)when I asked her that is it possible for R15 airtime to be used up within a second from Mtn because that's how it took me to check my balance after loading airtime , she did not answer kept on saying she understands my frustration ,and when I asked her about the other times this has happened she also had no answer .
Bottom line is I'm fed up with Mtn they are just ******* who ***** money because I can't call it airtime when I didn't even receive it all I know is that I spent money to buy something that I never received for months now I've had this problem .
Oh and lastly I bought a phone in July this year two months ago to be exact and on the deal it was said I will receive 100 mega bites data for six months every month but I'm ( happy ) to announce that lasat month I didn't receive it and again today its the first I still didn't receive it .
Mtn is just full of lies and ******* .
Disappointed Ayanda
Dear Ayanda,
Thank you for taking the time to communicate to us why our service did not meet your expectations. We have every desire to address your needs and provide the best solution available to resolve your issue as soon as possible.
Kindly note majority of the is data related. Here is a few tips you can use to curb your data usage going forward.
Turn off data when not in use.
If you’re not actively using your data connection, turning it off is the only sure-fire way to prevent apps from sucking up your mobile data in the background. Another upside to doing this is that your battery life lasts longer.
Set a data limit.
You can easily monitor your data usage and set a limit on data consumption through the Android settings. Simply head over to “Setting -> Data Usage” to see how much mobile data you have used over a period of time and the amounts of data used by individual apps.
Replace data-hungry apps.
There are some apps that are notorious for using a huge amount of data, so it’s a good idea to not use those while you’re on a mobile connection. In many cases you can find data-friendly alternatives to such apps that will still provide the necessary functionality while saving you some money.
Some examples:
Facebook Lite is a data-friendly alternative to the Facebook app which is known to use inordinate amounts of data in the background and wrecks havoc on your battery life.
Facebook Messenger Lite is an alternative to the resource-hogging Facebook Messenger app.
Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi Only.
You surely do not want apps to automatically update while you’re on a mobile connection as that would definitely take up a huge amount of data. Head over to the Google Play App, swipe from the left-hand side to open the menu, find the Settings page, and set your apps to “auto-update over Wi-Fi only.”
Restrict Background Data
This can be achieved by heading to “Settings -> Data usage.” You’ll see a list of apps and how much data each one has used over the specified period.
Tap on the app you want to prevent from updating in background. Turn on the option to “Restrict app background data.” This will prevent the app from sucking up your mobile data when it’s not in active use. This will also prevent the app from sending you push notifications for new messages or emails, so do consider that before restricting any app.
Turn on Data Compression in Chrome
If you use Chrome for Android, make sure to enable its data-saving mode which compresses all data before it is sent to your device.
You can do this by heading to “Settings -> Data Saver” within Chrome and togglung the “On” switch. Over time you will see a graph which will display how much data you’ve saved.
Tweak app settings
Many popular apps have settings that you can tweak to reduce data usage. Twitter, YouTube and Instagram are some of the ones I use that have options to help you reduce data usage while using the app.
Launch the Twitter app and swipe from the left side to bring up the menu.
Tap “Settings and Privacy” and look for “Data usage.”
From here you can control if videos are auto-played over a mobile connection or not at all.
Go to your profile page and click the three dots at the top-right corner.
Scroll down the page and find the “Cellular Data Use” option.
Select “Use less data.”
YouTube
Launch the app and tap the three dots at the top-right corner.
Tap “General” and turn on the “Limit mobile data usage” option.
You can also turn off Autoplay while you’re at it.
I trust that you find the above information.
