Air time theft
On the 4th of February I bought R180.00 airtime only for MTN to ***** it all on the 7th. I spoke to a certain Sifiso/Sibusiso who confirmed that I had data which I loaded on the 3rd. So There is no way my phone would have depleted my airtime because of no data. Sifiso promised to investigate and get back to me in 2 to 24 hours and 5 days later I've yet to hear from him....putrid service. On Saturday I spoke to a Rashani who tried to cook up stories as to why my airtime disappeared. Firstly she told me it's because I accessed and internet site that cost me R90.00 and R87.00 a pop. Not even pron costs that much. This was supposedly at around 13:00. Bunch of bull**** because I'm at work at that time and I'm sure I'd be using my work system were I need to access anything on the internet. She could not explain to me how is it possible for me to have data and yet have a phone that will use up R180 worth of airtime. After a few hours of investigation she comes back to me with another bull**** story saying I accessed Dropbox. Yes I did and I was doing was freeing up space by deleting old pictures. Since when does that use R180 airtime. She still could not explain or make sense. We ended the call with her promise to get back to me on the 14th after my billing date. I have heard of MTN horror stories where clients lose data/airtime but this one is pure theft by such a big provider. My contract finishes next month and I need to renew/upgrade.....over my dead body. I can't be associated or do business with *******. Raising funds to cover the Nigerian fine. MTN do what's right and give me back my airtime, no stories.
Dear Kagiso,
Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused as result of the delay in responding to your concerns.
The investigation into your airtime issue shows the following
- You loaded airtime on the 04 Feb 2018
- A few short calls made costing you R0.90 and left you with R179.1
- At this time you had data which was depleted on the 08 Feb 2018 and this is when data sessions where charged to your airtime
- The first session charged you R97.44 and the second charged you R81.66 which in total is R179.1
Please note that MTN charges 99c per MB on airtime direct Internet sessions. Therefore it means that your session that billed you R97.44 was 109MB and for the R81.66 was 82MB.
The outcome of the investigation therefore shows that you R180 airtime was used up and no airtime is due for a refund.
