Air time/ money gone missing

I have an old prepaid MTN number which I keep as a back up as some still have my old number and not my new contract with Telkom. I sure I used the phone, received calls in late December to January, however I didn't see the SMS telling me the phone has not been active for 110 days and will be disconnected in 5 days which the end was 1 March. I phoned and got the number reconnected however all my money disappeared ...gone for good I guess to some less than desirable organization way up north ... MTN *******...
