After nearly 20 years of being a loyal customer.

I'm not going to write a long sob story for a change.

All I want to say is that I have been a contract subscriber with mtn since 1997 or 1998 and when my contract term comes to an end soon I will be porting to another mobile provider.

Long story short, I've never had a problem where I have gone over my minutes too much or had a bill that's much over my subscription cost for so many consecutive months. My subscription is about R600 a month and that gives me some data, talk time and sms's. I hardly use my mobile for outgoing calls, I'm not using data excessively and I hardly send an sms.... so why is my bill over R900 a month???

I receive sms's from mtn saying I am being charged at out of bundle rates all the time when I know I have loaded data (at an extra cost, over and obove the R900+). So I tested it today...

I received notification from mtn that I am being charged at out of bundle rates, so I checked *141# call and it confirmed I have over 1.23gb of data. I called 808 and the recording should be available. I asked if I was being charged out of bundle rates and the consultant said yes I am. I then told her that I checked my balance and I do in fact have data available in bundle form, there was a bit of hacking at the keyboard from her side and all of a sudden she confirmed that I had over 1.2gb of data.

I didn't think I would be wasting my time writing this sort of letter about mtn, not only have I been a loyal customer of mtn for nearly 2 decades, I also spent 10 years working at the biggest mtn dealer, so I know how good the brand WAS.

I don't even have decent signal at my home after the surveys were done, and there were sms's from mtn saying that the area had been upgraded. And I was actually quite excited to experience better speeds and voice quality.

I'm sure I'll come right at my new provider early next year.

Regards.
