Account not getting closed, but accumulating charges

I have an account with MTN, I have been attempting to close the account for over 12 months now. Each time I call I am sent from pillar to post. Meanwhile the account is accumulating charges. This is unfair. The Ombud didnt help. the MTN complaints dept didnt help.
