Absolutely abysmal business ethics
I have been an MTN prepaid customer for the last couple of years with no issues however, due to the current pandemic I have been home and studying therefore haven't made much use of the number except for Whatsapp. Yesterday morning when a family member tried contacting me , a woman answered the call which ended up in them ending the call and then told me later on what had happened, I then contacted MTN about the issue and I was told that the number had been recycled due to not making a transaction or sending an SMS within 90 days and therefore the number has been given to a new customer. This is absolutely ridiculous and compromises private information that I have connected to that number. MTN did not contact me in any way to inform me that this could happen even though this 90 day recycling of a number is absolute nonsense. This is MTN saying if you don't spend then we don't care about the customer. This is customer service at its worst. MTN is not only putting my information at risk but all their customers by having a 90 day recycle whatever they want to call it and not letting customers know. People have cellphone banking and their emails connected to their number as well as family and friends who have their number and never expect to have to deal with a problem like this. MTN has gone from being a problem-free network to the worst network I have dealt with If this is the way MTN conducts their business then they should not provide the service at all as it can cause more harm than anything.
