8 Weeks later, no phone or cancellation of upgrade

This is my third review for MTN.

It has now been more than 8 weeks since upgrading my contract with MTN and about 18 or 20 calls later to their call centre. They do not seem able to cancel my upgrade after delivering the incorrect phone and after they suggested that it will be "quicker" to cancel the upgrade and get a phone at the local store. It has been 2 and a half weeks, maybe three weeks, that I have been trying to get the upgrade cancelled. I was told earlier in the week that the upgrade was successfully cancelled, but when I got to the MTN store to take out a new upgrade, it was not done. I have been told today that the reason MTN can not cancel the upgrade on their own service is because there is a problem with the porting of the number. We have been with MTN for more than 2 years on this number. I can not comprehend why porting will be a problem now when MTN is upgrading their own service?? Why it is so difficult to get this cancellation done?

I am tired of this whole affair. We have been promised our money back, on this forum and over the phone, but that too hasn't happened.

Alice van der Merwe, can you please get someone to actually resolve this? I appreciate the nice replies I get here, but unfortunately nothing happens away from the HelloPeter's site. So it looks like MTN is getting the issue, when actually it is not.

"Slindile the supervisor" on ********** 667 has been dealing with this, but I think it is time someone higher up helps her to get this issue resolved.

Please, I'm begging you to help us. We need a phone in case of emergency..

Alice The incorrect device was not returned via the delivery company but directly to the store and MTN has provided a waybill number that they received it a long time ago. The delivery company must be providing you with incorrect information. George (or I think you must mean Gregory) has been "on leave" since this has happened. I do not think he will be able to resolve the issue if his supervisor has not been able to. At this stage I was hoping you could get someone 2 levels above Gregory to resolve this as it has been dragging for 2 months... Now I am feeling really disappointed that you keep on asking Gregory (or George as you call him) to resolve this as he does not seem to be at the call centre anymore and when his supervisor could not resolve this either.. What else can be done?
