8 months and complaint still not resolved
Referring to the below complaint that I logged in May 2018, this has still not been resolved. I am now due to upgrade two of my contracts but I am worried about this trend of not getting customer service and not getting what I was promised. Why should I continue to support you?
May 2018 complaint... I was absolutely horrified by the pathetic service during my most recent contract upgrade. This really isn't what you would expect from a company that has been in the industry for so many years. I went to the MTN franchise in East Rand Mall to do a contract upgrade. Besides for the long wait everything went fairly smoothly and I got my phone plus the additional phone that came with it on contract. I was promised that the Bluetooth Speaker that I qualified for as part of the pre-order would be delivered to my house. When I got home I realised I didn't receive a SIM card for the second phone. I phoned the shop and they told me that I should have received the SIM card while I was doing the upgrade and that it's too late now and they cannot do anything to assist me. How can I be held accountable for a salesperson not including everything that the deal had to offer? So I had to go back to the store to take out another contract at my own cost because I promised the second phone to my daughter and couldn't use it without the SIM. After spending a good hour waiting for the paperwork to be finalised in the store I was told that they had to do the credit checks etc before I could take the SIM. Again I was sent home without the SIM card. I got a call the next day to go pick it up, which I did. They told me it would be active in 2 to 24 hours. I waited for 24 hours but the SIM never got activated. My first call to the call center the lady said she did something and it would be active in 2 hours. Again the SIM got activated. On my second call the call center agent said that this SIM needed to be activated by the activations department and there is nothing he could do for me. Again I had to wait another day as it was now after hours and that department only operates during office hours. The activations team assisted quickly the next day, but turns out I had to RICA the sim first. This wasn't mentioned a single time while I was in store to order the SIM, nor when I went to pick it up. So, again I had to drive to the store for a 3rd time to get the RICA sorted out. I cannot believe I had to go through all this nonsense (and pay extra per month) to get a SIM card that was supposed to be included in my upgrade. Also, almost a month has passed and I have still not received my bluetooth speaker. According to Huawei this is arranged by MTN and they are unable to assist me. This really isn't fair on me as a customer and I am contemplating taking this to the Advertising Authority of South Africa seeing that I was promised a bluetooth speaker + additional free contract SIM that I didn't receive.
