8 month old phone damaged beyond repair

In December my 8 month old Samsung Galaxy A3 suddenly restarted itself and was unable to reboot. It also started overheating and eventually switched off. All in the space of 30 minutes with no prior warning. MTN told us we had to send it in (failing to mention the R330.00 charge). They eventually came back to us that the phone is beyond repair due to water damage. The phone has never been near water or liquid - to which they rep**** that even sweat or moisture can cause the phone to bomb out.
Really? Sweat from my ear during a phone call will damage my phone? This is a pathetic and unacceptable excuse and I do not believe it for one second.
It is impossible that \ear sweat"can break a phone - because then thousands of people wouldn't use them.
I think I was originally given a dud phone and that MTN does not want to take responsibility for this.
I must now pay for a damaged / irreparable phone to be returned to me - and still continue to pay the contract for another year - with no foot to stand on.
I am disgusted with their service and faulty products.
This after being a loyal customer for the past 16 years!"""
