5 days to connect a new sim...and counting...

Bought a phone and a contract with a new sim on Saturday. Now its Thursday and the new phone still doesnt work. MTN Benmore is battling to connect my existing number to the new sim. Although I realise this is a technical fault from the server, I have received the worst service and the most unhelpful people in the Benmore shop. They refused to use the store telephone to call the Cresta branch and claimed not to know the number. I went to the Vodacom shop and they helped me call MTN Cresta from there. The Benmore shop was more than willing to open a contract with me but did not have the phone they offered. After going to fetch the new phone at Cresta. I have gone in every day to Benmore to find out what is going on and they forgot to load it, they don't know what is happening to it, they speak about me in their language when I am right there in front of them. They commit to calling me on another line but never do. This is the fourth day and I have no phone, and no way of doing it myself. Should I cancel the new contract, how do I escalate? Who is responsible? I need a phone. Maybe another service provider will be more organised.
