2 year battle with MTN for an eSIM
have been trying to activate an eSIM for my iPhone & Apple watch for two years. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 15, hoping it was a phone issue. Today Friday 13th of October, I visited your Morningside, Nicolway SC, Bryanston Corner, Kyalami Corner & Centurion stores & none of your staff could activate an eSIM/swap for me. I have spent many hours talking to your #135 staff in various departments; please check your recordings, as I am still waiting for solutions to my eSIM connectivity issue. Today I phoned your contract cancellation department to cancel my contract with MTN after 15 + years as a contract client. MTN CANNOT deliver a service you offer and promote on banners, pamphlets & fliers throughout South Africa. I was told by a call centre agent that he could only assist within his limited capacity & that his supervisor had gone out, leaving him with no assistance with my case. MTN SA (Pty) Ltd cannot offer me the service I require offered to me as a contract customer, that being an eSIM & therefore under the Consumer Protection Act –
“As a consumer, your rights are protected by the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), specifically Section 14, which deals with the expiry, renewal and cancellation of fixed-term agreements.
By law, you can cancel your mobile contract before the agreed expired date mentioned in the agreement, but you have to give 20 business days’ notice in writing.
The reason: losses suffered or benefits you cannot enjoy as a result of entering into the contract;
I have exhausted all my efforts/resources with MTN South Africa, and I would like you to cancel my contract and port my number, so that I can migrate my number to another SA cellular provider.
