Misleading cell phone contract

On Thursday 24th March 2016 I received a call from Mrp Mobile, offering me a contract for a Samsung Galaxy J1 at R99.99 per month with R100 airtime each month. I had bad experiences before and as a result of this I made sure I asked whether this contract would have an open line or not. If it were an open line I would not take the contract. I was told that it is not an open line and therefore accepted to take the contract. Like with all my cell phone contracts I have ever had, I asked that a debit order goes off every month on the 25th and even provided them with my bank details thinking the amount would be debited each month, I received the phone and about four months later I received a final demand notice stating that my account is in arrears due to no payment being received - however I clearly asked for a debit order to go off. I settled the amount though and thereafter made sure that a debit order goes off on the 25th.

Two months later, a random debit order went off on the 7th of the next month. Again, i was inconvenienced and had to phone around and make calls to Mr P Mobile to fix the problem.

On the 25th November, an amount of R480.20 was debitted from my account instead of R99.99. I had this amount reversed. Last night, two days before pay day, I received an SMS "Hi! Dont forget your MRP Mobile account will be debited early this month on the 15/12/2016 with R961.46. Have a happy festive season."

1). I am not even being asked if it is okay for the amount to be debited on the 15th I am being told. That in itself is extremely unprofessional as all other banks etc send an SMS asking for permission.

2). When I called MRP Mobile, someone by the name of Susanda informed me that the amount is so high because it is an open line. This angers me as I specifically said in the very beginning that IF IT IS AN OPEN LINE I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE CONTRACT! Hence the title of my review being "misleading cellphone contract".

3). Susanda advised me to call customer care to be able to access and listen to the recording of the initial call on 24th March 2016. When I called customer care I waited so long to be put through to someone who could help me.

Hello Peter is my last resort!

I have just been experiencing endless problems with MRP Mobile from the word go!!

I will never recommend them to anybody!
