Bad Service, *********** Provider

My Experience is similar to Ivy M's. MRP forced an MTN contract sim card onto me as a (non-communicated) precondition to activating my MRP Money account. I tried cancelling it 3 times in the first year to no avail (after being told I could after the 1st month). I eventually decided to use the number for work, and now 2 years later, my phone gets ****** and getting a sim swap done is a mission that seems impossible. I went to MTN, who sent me to MRP, who told me that they don't have contract sims at any of the stores near me, who then told me they were going to cancel the contract on their side, so that I can return to MTN for help after 3 DAYS. After 3 days, MTN tells me that the number is rendered inactive, and so I have to call MTN after 24 hours. I did as I was told, but instead of receiving urgent help, I now have to return to an MTN store again, after a full week spent going back and forth between MRP & MTN stores.

I am so frustrated that I don't know what to do anymore, because I can't take a day off from work, to sort out what Vodacom (a company that understands customer convenience) managed to sort out in less than 30 mins. None of this is worth having an MRP money account to boost your credit score for. NONE OF IT.

Do not, and I mean, DO NOT accept their compulsory contract sim cards that they force onto you. Rather cancel the whole application.

LOL.

Just came back from your Northgate store and was told that a number associated with a cancelled contract can never be used again, only for me to insist that they call your call centre ( as I was told a different story on Tuesday), and then for your call centre to tell the store assistant or whoever that my 3 DAY wait now ends this coming Wednesday (which I'm sure will be moved to next Wednesday, since you people seem to have trouble understanding how calculating work days works).

Now I'm going to be given additional work and costs to spend on call centre calls and Uber rides back and forth just to find out if my old number is released come Wednesday. To call this horrible service would be an understatement. The people who jacked my phone could be commiting ***** on my accounts and I wouldn't know, because MRP mobile insists on keeping my number hostage, when I need it for 2 factor authentication on all my important accounts!

Called MRP Mobile again, and my complaint was apparently escalated (for what would be a third time), and I was told of having to wait for "72 working hours" to see if my issue will be sorted. "72 working hours" that the call centre agent described as "not long", when I have had to wait for "72 working hours" to pass for 2 darn times already, since the last week Tuesday.

I'm finding it difficult to regulate my anger, at this point in time.

My number finally got released by MRP mobile, only for MTN to now tell me that the number (that remains inactive) is RICA barred, and if I want it back, I ought to start at the police station and write up an affidavit, and then return to an MTN store for help,

I don't know or why I was able to get a contract sim under MRP if it was not RICA'd, and I don't know why these people think putting people through this is okay. I have gone back and forth between different MRP and MTN stores at least 6 times, and each time I'd receive new information that rendered the previously received info incomplete, if not incorrect, because the people in store and the people at the call centres seem to be fed different (sometimes outdated) information.

My Uber ride bill to and from the mall 6 different times (only to be met with disappointment) has me feeling like visiting the police station (something I didn't have to do with Vodacom) is just going to result in more disappointment, frustration, and anger, and so I reluctantly have to let my work number go, and somehow hope that I'll be able to regain access to some of my important accounts without it.

I'll be closing my MRP account as soon as I'm done paying it off. I've never regretted anything this much in my life.
