Unhelpful staff

I have found a beautiful costume but my size can only be found at a branch too far for me to drive to. I have called the branches and asked if there is anyway I can have it sent to another branch. I just kept getting told sorry no they can't help me. Another clothing retailer would do an exchange between branches to have the product a customer would want. Is this a lack of knowledge from the staff in store. In todays day and age surely should one store not have a product it can be sent to a branch viable for the customer.
